'Resistance' from TomL: The Crew of the Scorpio

Continuing my personal Blake 7 obsession theme, my resistance group is the second group of freedom fighters on the show - the final crew of the Scorpio. The Terran Federation slowly eliminated most of Blake's first crew, computer and ship. With some new crew, a new ship and the annoyingly obsequeious and subservient new computer "slave", Avon and the surprisingly loyal Villa fought to the end. Perhaps laying the groundwork for the empires eventual fall.

I did like how Villa often had a snack handy.

Wait. I can explain!

Old friends?

If you have no idea how it ended.... stop reading here...

While I enjoyed watching the show in its entirety years later, for a TV production
the early 80’s it had a devastating & polarizing ending.  Unfortunately Paul Darrow’s attempts to get another season never succeeded.  So we were left with a "heroic death trope" ending.

This is another set of Beast in the Brooch miniatures painted with Foundry, Vallejo and Two Thin Coats acrylics.

Points are pretty simple at 85.  7 28mm figures for 35 points plus the theme bonus of 50.

'Empire' From TomL: Terran Federation, 125 points

For the Empire theme I submit representatives of the fictional Terran Federation from the setting of Blake’s 7 TV show:  Supreme Commander Servalan, her unhinged military assassin Space Commander Travis and an assortment of troops.

For those unfamiliar with the late 1970's BBC show, Earth and almost all other human planets are ruled by the Terran Federation. They control the populace garrison troops aided by drugged air, food, and water. Supreme Commander Servalan and the Federation rise, fall and rise again in power due to a pesky alien invasion and her preoccupation with a resistance movement (or is it her preoccupation with the resistance leaders?).  More on the resistance in a later theme post.

Described as a tasteless megalomaniac and sociopath with "the sensitive delicacy of a plasma bolt", Servalan was expertly brought to life on screen by Jacqueline Pearce. Sadly she couldn't finish out the series.  Here she is with her ally Commander Travis:

The actor playing Commander Travis left and a new actor took over the role - same character no explanation for the new look.  So of course we need to have a new set of figures:

In this cheery world when reeducation failed to tame the rebellious, your body was still useful. They wiped your memories, boosted your physical attributes via bionics and made you unable to live without consuming a enriched blood plasma. The 'vampiric' mutoids & robot companion:

Unfortunately for the rebels the black vinyl clad troops were better shots than the Star Wars clones. Have to say the glowing headband (shoot here!) is a questionable fashion choice though.

These figures are from "Beast In the Broch". These were painted with pretty much every shade of black I have, matte and selectively gloss varnished.

Points: 125
Theme: 50 points
Figures: 15 28mm @ 5 points is 75 points.
