"He says he's the Emperor Himself, off the Golden Throne to tour His Imperium and visit His subjects. He's touched in the head, of course, but harmless and we humour him for a laugh. Throne help him if the Redemption fails to see the funny side..."
For my Guards of Traitor's Toll... in Space idea, I need a lot of citizens from all walks of life and got some Wargames Atlantic fantasy townsfolk. This box has a load of figures and heads and accessories. I liked the idea of a beggar's body and a crowned head. The Emperor of Mankind can walk about the board giving sage advice. He's tolerated by other citizens, but can get caught up in crime.
I also painted this figure, the Archivist from Colony 87 by Crooked Dice. I ran out of room to write Provocatio (Latin for The Challenge) on the front, but there is a XVI and a skull on the rear monitor.
2x 28mm figures inspired by the stagnant Imperium of 40K (10+50 points)
+1 skull

What a contrast and great idea for the mad ruler with a demented archivist - well that’s what he looks like ! Great stuff
ReplyDeleteThanks, Norber!
DeleteNice
ReplyDeleteCheers, Dave!
DeleteNice work
ReplyDeleteThanks, Matt.
DeleteThese are cool non-combatant figures. Can never have enough of these.
ReplyDeleteI agree entirely
DeleteYes, and more to come.
DeleteVery nice work!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Adam!
DeleteCool. The mad emperor of the people is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tom!
DeleteLove your take on the Emperor. Great archivist too (though I hope to retire before it comes to that...).
ReplyDeleteOnly in death does duty end...
DeleteWhoever said that didn't have a good pension plan... :)
DeleteI love it Barks. This rendition of the Emperor takes me back to the original Rogue Trader book, and the many scenarios they offered for players. I believe in one of them, a religious leader has promised a giant flying pudding of some sort will bring deliverance?
ReplyDeleteI had to look that up! 'Rogue Trader' plot generator p 240:
Delete"... a madman started a new religion based around the premise that a vast floating pudding would appear to make life better for everyone."
Well recalled!
Very cool JB - love the Archivist in particular!
ReplyDeleteCheers, Paul, it's a nice little sculpt.
DeleteLovely pair of 40k imperialists!
ReplyDeleteBest Iain
Thanks, Iain!
DeleteI like the XVI on the back of the archivist, it's a nice touch.
ReplyDeleteI was pretty happy when I thought of it.
DeleteSplendid!
