Please find below my anti-hero fortnight challenge and challenge entry fee (the dreaded double-whammy). I present to you Hans, a German DAK tank officer who watched too many Western movies in Dusseldorf as a child in the ’30s so fancies himself as a Teutonic version of Wyatt Earp. His western-hero delusions have gone so far as he often refers to himself Hauptmann Rittmeister Von Earp.
Hans was last seen near El Alamein standing in front of his disabled Panzer III and attempting to quick draw against his English foe. Unfortunately for Hans, that foe wasn’t some British Desert Rat officer with a clumsy Webley revolver, it was against a platoon of shiny M4 Shermans. Teutonic until the end.
The figure is in 28mm scale and is from the Perry WW2 DAK line. It’s a bit of an odd sculpt from the Panzer crewman set but fits perfectly for an anti-hero with a bit of a western theme for the Challenge.
Very original Miles, I like it.
ReplyDeleteA great background story to set the tone Miles - excellent stuff. Now, I wonder if he would have a Luger, a Walther or try to source a Colt?

ReplyDeleteGreat background story. Someone probably actually was like this character. Nice painting. cheers
ReplyDeleteHe looks very nice...and ready to slap some hawg irons! ;)
ReplyDeleteMy grandfather told a story of another Pottawatomie who was captured by the Germans. The Germans asked him all sorts of questions, but none related to military intelligence. They were trying to find out about cowboys, teepees, and what-not. They never really understood Eastern Indian! ;)
