'Empire' From KillianF - 28mm Gothic Warriors (60 pts)

Thanks again for the kind comments on last week's post. 

For the first theme round I would like to please submit 12x 28mm Gothic Warriors. The Goths, of both East and Western variety, were instrumental in the fall of the Western Roman Empire and certainly caused problems for the Eastern.

These guys are a mix of the Wargames Atlantic Dark Ages Army Builder and various Victrix Late Roman kits. I wanted to create a mix of warriors, some who could almost be Foederati, and others who are the archetypal hairy barbarian.

All the shields were handpainted, although the designs were shamelessly cribbed from transfers. I tried an oil wash on these which at first left me a bit cold. However after a few days I actually started to like the effect. I did have to redo the metallics on the bosses with another acrylic wash. I also gave some warriors tunic decorations. I find this is an easy way to add a bit of colour and interest to relatively simple model.

 

I have 24 more to paint, which I will try to sprinkle throughout the rest of the Challenge.

12x 28mm Infantry: 60 points

1 Squirrel point (3 total)
