'Monstrous' from SebastianR: Giant Scorpion

Thinking about it, Batman isn't a good person. He's a vigilante, an ultra rich hyper-capitalist who gets his jollies beating up Gotham's lumpenproles, I'm pretty sure he basically committed what the CIA would call extraordinary rendition in the first of the Nolan films, oh and he explicitly appropriates symbols of the night in order to mess with the people he attacks.

Anyway, for the monstrous category, here's a giant scorpion.

Much scarier I'm sure
Despite it being a fairly rushed job, I'm actually pretty happy with the way it turned out, especially with the way the Vallejo quote unquote matt varnish glossed it up a treat.

I basically had no idea what I was doing when I started out, but a few washes in and he started to look quite gribbly.

I based the paint job on a yellow-tailed scorpion; the UKs only resident scorpion, that, thanks to global warming, has been thriving! You're welcome fellow Brits!

With an unlucky scavenger, for scale
I drilled the claws, but not the legs; I suspect that I may live to regret this decision.

I don't know what this might be scored as, but 28mm mounted or foot might do.

'Childhood' from SebastianR: Child with Crowbar

Leaping over the rooftops of Gotham, hero to child and manchild alike, it's Batman!

Ok seriously, this is the last time I'll make this joke. Well... maybe one more time. Jokes aside, maybe it's time to re-asses the grimdark nature of modern portrayals of the caped crusader,

In any case, here's my real submission, a small child with a crowbar.

As painting continued, I realised he looked a little bit like Donald Trump... I decided this wasn't entirely inapropriate.

For scale, here are two repainted dogs. I really wasn't happy with two from a previous submission, and I found the original manufacturers page (for those who were asking) along with a much better paint scheme.

Turns out one of them was supposed to be a German shepherd...
The above is for scale, I'm not sure if re-paints are worth points, if they are, I suppose this submission becomes a boy and his dogs?

'Music/Musician' from SebastianR: Manchester Guard Piper

My submission for this special submission is... Batman?

No!

It's this guy:

You might think that this is some sort of WWII Scottish piper in some funny colours, but you'd be wrong. Well... you'd also be right. The mini is a WWII piper, but painted in the colours of the Manchester Guard; the militia of post apocalyptic Manchester in the setting we constructed for the ruleset I developed for platoon level post apocalyptic combat.

You'll notice that the bagpipes have no tartan. This is partly because he isn't a Scottish piper (not that pre-fall polities have any meaning) but mostly because I'm lazy.

Here's the squad and officer he'll be piping for.

You can get more and better pictures by following the link above
So why bagpipes? Why not bagpipes? In my opinion they are the premier battlefield portable instrument, producing a cadence that is both uplifting and driving enough to make you want to plunge a bayonet into Johnny Foreigner for the vested interests of your ruling classes King and Country!

'BFG' from SebastianR: Some Big Guns

Another bonus round, just in the nick of time; it's Batman!

(Or Ben Affleck, we're not sure). Batman is well known for settling disagreements with his large guns, using them to apply his fists to the faces of various ner-do-wells... wait... I've submitted him before...

No, instead, we have some actual big guns. Not sure what you were expecting really.

4 105mm guns for my nascent early war French with 5 crew apiece.

I'll try to get a better photo setup for next time. I have been really pressed for time. It's a miracle I got these together to be honest.

With the banishment of staff teams and rifle teams for guns in v4 an opportunity has arisen to model officers directly onto the gun teams.

When I first opened up the models I assumed there was some sort of error and I was going to be spending some quality time popping out the metal around the spokes on the wheels. Turns out these guns had solid wheels which were attached to the trail legs, which provided more cover for the crew when spread.

'Flight' from SebastianR: Batman

Evenin' all.

So confession time, this is my first post but I'm not going to do the introductions thing as I'm running a bit short of time. You see it's the bonus round, and the deadline is 0000H. I'm pretty sure that that's Alaska time but it's 2348 here in the UK and I don't want to take any chances.

Anyway, for your delectation, here is that well known representative of flight*, Batman!**

This is the Batman figure from the "Batman Miniatures Game" by Knight Models. I acquired it as part of a lot; it's not something I'd normally buy for myself, despite the figure being rather nice.

This isn't just any Batman, this is Batman (Ben Affleck) and they drive that home even in the text of the stat booklet you get with him.

Which suggests to me that either a) Ben Affleck is actually the Batman universe or b) They're planning to bring out all the previous Batman's too, including perhaps Adam West. Now that's a DC extended universe movie I would pay money to see...

There's not much colour going on, apart from the grass which I added at his feat to conceal the basing bar(?). I used a few semi-targetted grey drybrushes followed by a more targeted one with some Iraqui Sand mixed in to highlight a few areas. There must be a better way to paint "black" out there, but I think he looks pretty good for the effort put in. Not going to lie, it was probably the quickest paintjob I've ever done.

Looking forward to introducing myself properly on Tuesday; hello and Happy New Year to you all!

*Of course he can fly, he was bitten by a radioactive bat and gained all the powers of bat. That's how all super heroes work, right?

**All instances of the word Batman are to be read in Bale style growly voice.
