'Mercenary' from IainW: Landsknecht Commander

Here we have a landsknecht mercenary commander, resplendent in the colours of Bradford City as I rather think he will end up as my command figure to hand over at the end of the Renaissance duel and I guess that the colours will go down well with the winner!

Still that's 5 points towards the Rennaisance duel, never say never but it pays to be prepared!

'Music/Musician' from IainW: Renaissance Musician

Here we have one 28mm figure painted for the challenge and a mounted command figure previously painted who has been waiting for a companion, he's a foundry gendarme but enough about him what about the musician, well, I've had him since the 1970s he's a minifigs fantasy figure, valley of the four winds I think, which was a games workshop game but minifigs did the figures . I always thought he looked close enough to a landsknecht so he has been pressed, taken the shilling and left that fantasy stuff behind! He's quite a pleasing figure although my usual technique didn't really work on his face so I had to do a bit more work! But he's good enough and it' only taken, what, just shy of 40 years to get him painted,so that's all right then, there's hope for all the rest in my lead pile!

So that's one 25mm figure plus bonus.

'BFG' from IainW: Renaissance BFG

Here we have three artillery pieces for the great Italian wars, you must excuse the crews, they predate the challenge and have been 12 old glory gunners in search of a gun for some time!

The guns themselves are from Irregular, the two cannons and a venerable hinchcliffe multi barreled gun which has the delightful detail of being held together with rope, sure to inspire confidence!

The hinchcliffe is a lovely piece and came with a 4 weel, 2 horse waggon for very little money and Ian Hinds gave excellent service.

One of the Irregular pieces was meant to come with some transom pieces which I didn't realise until after it had been sitting in the lead pile for a couple of years!

What I like about artillery of this period is the sheer variety, single, multiple barrels, bronze and wrought iron, muzzle and breech loading, it all adds to the eclectic look.

A renaissance gun battery, what I'm happy about this bonus round is that this has made me finish off these guns and find some use for the crew, based finished done and I've managed to get something into the bonus round hurrah!

'Home' from IainW: Italian Wars Makeshift Camp

Home for many during the Great Italian Wars was either some sort of rude shelter made of thatch, a branch and sod structure or a tent. These I have done my best to model.

We have the thatch type shelter

The sod and branch type

The basic tent ( A Rendera model)

And the more upmarket tent ( The top is a Rendera bell tent)

These are the images I was working from

I ran out of time to do the fire and the shelter housing the barrels but they and a baggage train will follow in due course. The figures are from last weeks entry just to give some scale.

All the best
