'Fellowship' from DaveX: Downed Luftwaffe Aircrew

For the Fellowship Bonus Round I picked one of those packs of miniatures I would probably never get around to painting if I wasn't participating in this challenge.  I chose the Foundry Miniatures Downed German Aircrew.  These are old sculpts but terrific sculpts from the infamous Perry Twins.

These can be used for any WW2 Game, specifically I will be using them for Chain of Command and Bolt Action.  They could be an objective or a squad.

I haven't painted WW2 in 28mm in a long time so it is nice to return to the subject.  I really think there is a special bond, or shall we say fellowship among men who served as bomber aircrew in the war, regardless of what flag they fought under.

The miniatures depicted here tell the story of our fellowship's most desperate hour.  They are shotdown, they survived and now they are behind enemy lines.  Are they in a lush field in England? Rural France? or is our fellowship desperately avoiding capture from the Soviets somewhere on the Eastern Front?

This should net me a very handy 90 points.  8 x 28mm Figures plus bonus round.

'Water Feature' from DaveX: Japanese Hei Class Minesweeper and Achi D3A

This painting challenge has seen me embrace Japanuary and the Cruel Seas Japanese Fleet.  I have now painted all the ships in the Fleet Box including the bonus Aircraft during this painting challenge!

For this bonus theme "Water Feature" I couldnt think of anything more fitting that finishing off this box set by painting the Hei Class Escort Minesweeper and the Achi D3A "Val" Imperial Japanese Navy aircraft.

I don't know what this will yield me in points but the aircraft is teeny tiny and the ship is about 23cms long and has 22 crew painted!  I am also participating in the SD3 Naval Themed duel so this should give me a great boost!

My bonus theme submission! One large ship and a small aircraft

Here is the Japanese Fleet! All these vessels have been painted during this challenge!
Chalk up more points for the Side Duel SD3 Good Sir!

'Mercenary' from DaveX: Sniper

For this bonus round I decided to paint up a US Special Forces Sniper as a Mercenary.  He could be from any nation representing any organisation or corporate venture or perhaps he is sworn to say nothing to anyone about who he is or what he is doing?

This figure is a limited release from Elhiem Figures, some of the best figures in 20mm.

For those curious, the background building is a 3D Print textured and painted by me prior to the challenge.

Some of you might recognise who this chap is.  He is based on the art from Osprey's Force on Force Ambush Alley Modern Ruleset.  I painted him to look more like a Mercenary and not just a Random SF Badass.

If you like this figure quickly head over to Elhiem's Website and grab him before he is gone!

'Sport' from DaveX: DEVGRU Sniper Team

For this bonus round I had to think what in my collection would constitute "sport".  Shooting is a sport right??? They do this at the Olympics right?  They also do this within the Military and compete right?  What about the two way firing range?  I have left it open to interpretation!

I present my 20mm Elhiem Figures DEVGRU Sniper Team.  What is DEVGRU? One just needs to punch this into Google and it will return...

Test The United States Naval Special Warfare Development Group (NSWDG), commonly known as DEVGRU or SEAL Team Six, is the U.S. Navy component of the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC). It is often referred to within JSOC as Task Force Blue.

So there you go! You learn something new everyday. Now I chose to use their desert cam variant of the many shades of Camo they wear.  It is quite difficult to recreate this in 20mm so I gave it my best crack.

Some people will notice (I didnt pick this up) that the pose of the sniper is rather awkward and unnatural.  I say to that he is setting himself up for the shot! This aside I think the model looks great!

'Reconnaissance' from DaveX: Taliban Motorbike

For the first bonus round themed reconnaissance and limited by time, I painted up a 20mm Elhiem Figures Taliban Motorbike.

The miniature is lovely although the wheels are cast rather unusual.  I went for a fairly bland look for this chap.  I think it fits in with the theme Reconnaissance well.  Could he be an enemy scouting out positions? Could he just be a civilian?  After all he is not armed.

Its a pretty easy yet cheeky 65 points too (I hope)!

'Monstrous' from DaveX: A Monstrous Horde of Zombies!

Being quite behind my points goal, I needed a boost, and a big boost at that!

Whilst looking at my many options for Monstrous, I was looking at some of the Monsters in Zombicide Black Plague.  I have painted quite a few zombies but decided I would paint as many as I could so I grabbed every zombie from the box set that had yet to see paint and off I went!

I had to speed paint the lot of them, all 44 of them!  I basically undercoated them IJA Green, slapped on some block colours, drybrushed them with Army Painters Zombie Skin, painfully painted the bases and then used my favorite Army Painter Quick Shade... a magical 3 days later I sprayed some Mat Varnish, picked out some minor details and bloodied them!

It was a Monstrous effort to get them all done!

Here is my Horde of 44 Zombies for you...

Here they are... All 44 of them

The Zombies

The Fatties

The Runners

As these are gaming pieces and are handled with not much love and are constantly being moved on and off the table, I only roughly cleaned them up and missed many a mold line but they sure do look nice en-mass!

So this should yield me 44 x 5 points = 220 plus 50 bonus = 270 much needed points! :)

'Childhood' from DaveX: Carl Grimes

As a fan of The Walking Dead comic books it is nice to have him in miniature form.  He is a different character in the Comic Book apposed to the TV series... no spoilers.

The miniature is from Mantic's The Walking Dead All Out War.  I couldn't really think of anything from my Childhood so I thought I would paint up Carl Grimes as his Childhood will certainly be most memorable.  The poor lad, growing up in a Zombie Apocalypse.

I messed his face up a little rushing to get the job done.  Also you can notice tiny flakes of white which is from my Varnish, the batch has gone off and sadly will need to be replaced, will save it for snow themed miniatures rather than waste it.

This should grab me a handy boost of 55 to my tally!

And for those of you who have trouble pronouncing his name...

'Music/Musician' from DaveX: Polish Vistula Legion Drummer

For this fortnights bonus, I am submitting my 28mm Polish Vistula Legion Drummer.  This guy is part of a batch paint from the Warlord Games Box Set and I especially finished him first for the Music/Musician challenge.

I have never painted lace before and am pleased with how it turned out.  This chap is one of four metal figures in the box set of Warlord Games.  I enjoyed painting him.

With a mustache like that he is hardly a drummer boy

'BFG' from DaveX: German Winter Pak 40

Progress continues on my winter German forces for WW2.  These chaps can be used in many a winter theater for WW2. For the themed bonus round of BFG I decided to paint up a Warlord Games 7.5cm Pak 40 with a winter theme.  Its a pretty Big Freakin Gun with 7.5cm of doom being fired at any allied armour!

Points wise this should be 4 x 28mm figures= 20 + 1 x 28mm Arty Piece = 10 plus bonus round of 50 points, so a grand total of 80 points? One can only hope!

'Flight' from DaveX: North Africa Stuka

This is my first ever entry into the Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge.  I decided to finally put some paint on my Blitzkrieg Miniatures 1/56 Resin Stuka.

The two crew in the last picture are only added for effect and have been previously painted and do not contribute to my score.

The canopy comes clear however the quality of it wasn't the best and I was undecided if I wanted to model crew in it.  Without crew I can model it both in flight and on the ground.  I decided to paint the windows of the canopy to keep it more "Wargame" like.

This should give me 15 Points for a 28mm Vehicle and a bonus 50 for the themed round.
