'Antihero' from SteH - 'Smeagol'

Where would Middle Earth be without Gollum's sharp little teeth? After all the pain and hardship that the Fellowship go through, all the grief and loss and almost failing at the final hurdle its Gollum that saves the day. How perfect is he as a Antihero? You start off hating him, then pity him, then quite like him with his "master" this and "nasty fat hobbit" that.

But in the end its all for nought as he plunges to his doom clutching his precious (and chewing on a tasty snack at the same time).

Great fun to paint, I went for a basic skintone in the end rather anything pasty or wasted looking. This is one of the better GW sculpts for the Lord of The Rings range, the pose is very dynamic and pretty much painted itself!

And so I present, a rogue, a ruffian and outright antihero - Gollum (aka Smeagol).

'Hot' from SteH - 'Matilda'

I expect there are other challenge participants who will have interpreted this category in a lot more creative ways than I have however my submission is part of my ongoing interest in the North Africa theatre of World War Two.

Firstly we have five Zvezda 1/100 Mathilda II tanks painted in a very generic sand colour scheme, I would have tried out the caunter scheme however my eyes aren't that good anymore. Also I've completed a little air support in the form of 1/144 Revell Hurricane, not a bad model just a little soft on detail. I think I may have been a little heavy on the black lining but I quite like the contrast it brings to the models.

Now I need to complete the other five Mathilda's to complete my small armoured company.

Cheers

'Myth' from SteH - 'Cave Troll'

I may stretching this one a bit however here's my Myth bonus round entry, a cave troll by Games Workshop for the Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game. My justification being that many of the creatures in the Lord of the Rings books are culled from mythology and folklore anyway therefore this Troll has its roots in mythology!

At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

He was painted up for the simple pleasure of painting, no deadline to get him on the painting table for a change.

I probably could have put a little more time in but I had a few minor disasters with paint drying weird and then my Vallejo sepia wash pooling on the model, separating and drying as some weird kind of chalky powder. So i called it quits once he got to this stage!

Thanks
