'Monstrous' from MikeD: Totentanz

I must never get tired of painting skeletons. Back when I was playing WHFB, my army must have had about 150 of them. But when the new figures for Shadespire came out, I still picked up a box. And when Crown and Skull did a Kickstarter for figures based on Renaissance "Dance of Death" figures, I had to have them. This challenge gave me the impetus to finally get them painted:

This is the command set. They've completed the range with a number of other really interesting figures, and I can't wait to do those as well.

'Music/Musician' from MikeD: Der Alte Fritz on the Flute

Much like the current President of the United States, Frederick the Great was not only a visionary statesman and the greatest military mind of his era, but also an accomplished musician. He composed over a hundred sonatas and four concertos for the flute. So when trying to tie together military miniature painting with the theme of this challenge round, this Eureka Miniatures vignette in my lead pile seemed like a perfect fit. And it has dogs too!

The figures are apparently inspired by the painting Flute Concert at Sansoucci (which itself wasn't painted until the middle of the 19th century). The figure on the square piano is supposedly Karl Phillipe Emmanuel Bach, the son of the famous composer.
