'Reconnaissance' from JonathanO: Finnish Ski Patrol

I was not sure what to do for this first bonus round.  As I have been shoveling a lot of snow the last few days, this seems an appropriate one.  These 3 Winter War Finns are on patrol and supposed to be looking for a Russian convoy of vehicles (the arrival of which has been anticipated for the last two painting challenges!).   If the Russians arrive, hopefully the Finns will be ready.

I am not sure if these guys are really focusing on the job, though.  They seem more interested in sightseeing at my wife's gingerbread castle!

The castle is big - it is mounted on our old 4' x 4' Warhammer 40K game board.

Cheers

'Flight' from JonathanO: Steam Ornithopter

Time is flying by and I am only just making my first post of this challenge.

This 28mm model is from Westwind Production's Empire of the Dead range.  It is a Victorian Sci-Fi "Steam Ornithopter".

This strange flying contraption will at least get me on the scoreboard and into the first bonus round.

I hope to get more miniatures from the EOTD range completed later in the challenge.

Cheers,

Jonathan

'East' from JonathanO: East-Meg Invasion Force

"After years of meticulous planning, Supreme Judge Bulgarin of East Meg One launched the Apocalypse War against Mega-City One."

My entry for the East theme round is a set from the Judge Dredd Miniatures game by Mongoose Publishing / Warlord Games.

I am trying to compete in each bonus round using figures I was planning to paint during this challenge anyway.   I purchased the Judge Dredd starter box set and a couple of additional boxes a while back.  Now that I have this East-Meg force complete, I need to work on some Mega-City One forces to oppose them!

The force consists of a Senior Sov Judge, 2 Sov Judges with pistols, one with a carbine and one with a flamethrower.  Additionally, there is a Sov officer with Satellat drone and the dreaded Sentenoid.

The Senior Sov Judge:

 Judges with pistols:

Sov Judges with carbine and flamethrower:

Sov Officer and Satellat:
The drone came with a black stand, but I replaced it with a Games Workshop one.
Sentenoid:

These figures were by Mongoose Publishing (who had the Judge Dredd miniatures licence) and distributed by Warlord games.  They are no longer available as the AD2000 licence for miniatures has now been taken over exclusively by Warlord Games.  Hopefully, there will be some new releases for Judge Dredd from them in the future.  I like the comic book look and I think these figures will be suitable for other sci-fi skirmish games too.

'Armour' from JonathanO: Twins in Armour

Who needs "Men" at Arms when you have the twins Rose and Kate on your side?  These two will be the start of my new warband for Open Combat by Second Thunder.  They will be joined by others later in the Challenge. The miniatures are by Hasslefree  ("Tiriel" and "Dynamic Tiriel")

They are clearly wealthy as their armour and weapons are the best that money can buy.

They can be pious and thoughtful ....  below, Rose gives thanks for their survival from previous perils encountered and prepares herself for the challenge ahead....

... and they can be angry and fierce ....below Kate is ready to face another foe....

I did not enter any of the theme rounds last Challenge, but I am more organised this time and planning to enter them all.

Cheers,

Jonathan
