For the 'West' theme round, I present to you Commander Hector West, US Naval Officer (retired), decorated veteran of the Great War, upstanding citizen. Tired of Navy life in peacetime, he resigned and headed Westwards in search of adventure in the Far East. With his trusty Mauser pistol, surrendered to him by the officer of a German U-boat. Sunk by the USS Chimera's depth charges. West and his crew plucked twenty-seven German submariners from the sea despite the risk to his own vessel, earning him the deep gratitude of the U-boat's Kapitan.
West
is joined by an associate, Camila Valentina Lopez, a bounty hunter held
in great esteem, Originally hailing from from Colombia, Camila is a
seasoned adventurer, as deadly with her Colt as with her bare hands.
I suppose Camila would be relevant to Sarah's Choice. Curiously, as I was putting the finishing touches to her, browsing the darkest reaches of Lead Adventure Forums, I did happen upon the same miniature painted by a luminary of the AHPC, in almost exactly the same colour scheme. Oops!
These wonderfully characterful sculpts are from Statuesque Miniatures' Pulp Alley range. They've a cartoony styling, nice detailing and are really fun to paint. I've one of the other packs, but will picking up some more for sure.
I will stand absolutely no suggestion that I've shoehorned these miniatures into the fortuitously-timed Theme Round in a desperate hope of making my points target. Completely unthinkable!

DeleteExcellent work on these two adventurers!
ReplyDeleteThank you Evan!
DeleteHaha! These are terrific figures Phil - I quite like your take on them, especially the navy trim look of Hector while Camila, in her riding breeches, has obvious charms. I'll mark this down as a Sarah's Choice contender.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely helped by having such fine figures to work with.
DeleteCamila is quite the adventuress!
ReplyDeleteI prefer to think that Commander West is her side kick/manservant. đ
Well of course, the good Commander only got top billing to make a good claim for theme points. We all know who is really the boss :-)
