'Nostalgia' from Barks - Robin Hood and His Somewhat Ambivalent Men

Ah, sweet nostalgia... it was a simpler England, of a simpler time. Verdant forests covered the countryside. Robber barons, beautiful maidens, cheerful peasantry, Warhammer was still a thing. It was 1997.

These are Games Workshop's Bretonnian heroes Bertrand le Brigand, Gui le Gros, and Hugo le Petit. I will, of course, be using them for Robin Hood games. I believe they are Perry bros. sculpts. I picked them up at a bring-and-buy along with two squires.

Unfortunately, none of them look especially merry!

This is my first entry into the AHPC, it was really fun! If anyone can recommend a good source of similarly styled plastic figures to beef up my band it would be appreciated!

  1. I love these figures - the golden age of GW indeed and a smashing paint job to boot!

  2. I'd love to own a set of these but I'm ambivalent at how much they cost these days :-) Lovely work Barks.

  5. Well done Barks. A very iconic set of figures there. Have you had a look at the Perry English Army 1415 etc or War of the Roses Infantry Plastic box sets?

    1. Thanks for the tip! I'll have a closer look at those, I am looking for a predominantly unarmoured warband.

  7. I never could figure out why Warhammer Robin Hood was a Frenchman. Then Shrek comes along and also decides to run with this odd notion. Pure lunacy!

That said, some very tidy work there, Barks!

  8. Good job, Barks! I never did get that set, but I still have a few squires and regular bowmen waiting the arrival of the infamous trio!
